When we pay attention to the details of the Bible, it seems like many things changed after the
flood. We can compare the ages of people before the flood and after, and we see the years
getting less and less. We’re also told that after the flood, God put the fear of man into the
animals and gave permission for men to begin eating animals. The world changed, and it
seems that change has continued to happen, I’d say things are slowly decaying. Nevertheless,
in the law of Leviticus, God took Israel’s diet one step further by specifically outlining what
animals were permitted to be eaten and which ones were forbidden. They were called clean
and unclean animals and are described in Leviticus 11. Leviticus 12 deals with religious rituals for
after childbirth, and chapter 13 deals with ritual cleansing and laws around skin diseases. It’s
also important to keep in mind that this Law existed in a world that was already dealing with
issues, and through the Law God consistently dealt with many of them.

Holiness; Leviticus 20-22
In the book of Leviticus, the law of God was presented so that the Israelites could understand
it. God expected the priests and the people to consider offerings to Him as holy. God was
different from the world, He was not just another god in a vast pantheon, He was THE God
who created all things.... -
Sacred Spaces; Leviticus 23-25
In Greek, the title Leviticus means “pertaining to the Levites” and in Hebrew it means “and He
called.” The overall idea is that Leviticus contains God’s instructions to the tribe of Levi, as they
were to be the priests of God and caretakers of the Law, the Tabernacle, and eventually the
Temple. ...
