It’s interesting to see how the Levites, in Leviticus 14, were supposed to handle people with
skin diseases in ancient Israel. There were very specific procedures that were supposed to take
place. We see that the way we handle healing is important. It is not just that we are well that is
important, but also that we point to God who made us well. Then in chapter 15 the Scriptures
cover bodily discharge, emphasizing that Israel was supposed to be very aware of their own
humanity and quick to deal with any unholiness. Leviticus 16 records how God dealt with the
reckless offerings of Aaron’s two sons. There was a serious cost to be paid. We see that it’s not
just the loss that would have been felt but also the fact that they could have avoided the loss if
they had not acted carelessly. Living a godly life looked different for ancient Israel than it does
for us today, but the principles are the same: We must pay careful attention to how we live, for
the glory of God.

who created all things.... -
Sacred Spaces; Leviticus 23-25
In Greek, the title Leviticus means “pertaining to the Levites” and in Hebrew it means “and He
called.” The overall idea is that Leviticus contains God’s instructions to the tribe of Levi, as they
were to be the priests of God and caretakers of the Law, the Tabernacle, and eventually the
Temple. ... -
The Law of God; Leviticus 26-27
As we finish reading the book of Leviticus, we can really get a feel for how God was directing Israel. Before God gave them His Law, they did not have a concrete guide on how to approach God, or how to treat each other in light of their relationship with God. We also have to remember that the law...
