The work of God is very different than the work of man. When God closes something, it remains closed. When God opens something, it remains open. I believe the time in which we live has been opened to Israel the nation. It was defined in 1920, in San Remo, Italy, by a group of leaders from the League of Nations, following World War I. Then following World War II,
Israel was recognized by the United Nations in 1948. Today, the nation of Israel has never been stronger. Something is happening, because God is moving. As we look at Zechariah 11, we see things with historical perspective. We see that history played out just as it was predicted.
The work of God is timeless—it is in the past, the present, and the future. Our reading today explains what God said in the past, for His work right now and into the future. As God has said it, so it will happen!
