The Shake Up; Nahum 1-3
Season 9, Episode 1

01-Sep-2025
The prophet Nahum tells us that he comes from the town of Elkosh. Researchers believe that Elkosh was located in southwest Judah, but a precise location has not been determined. Nahum’s name originates from the Hebrew term that means comfort. Other than these details, not much
else is known about this seventh century prophet. His Old Testament book is directed against the city of Nineveh about a hundred years after the prophet Jonah had gone on his mission there. It’s interesting because it seems that God is now prepared to perform the judgment that was stayed by the people’s earlier repentance at Jonah’s message. God never wastes His Words. They are always fulfilled even if we don’t see it. Historically, Nineveh was destroyed in 612 BC by the ancient Medes and Chaldeans. God brought judgment on the people for their great evil. No man can get away with sin and rebellion, all will be brought to justice.
