Season 9, Episode 4

Sometimes we all need a good wakeup call. This is what Haggai did for his people. His prophecy dates to about sixteen years after the people had returned to Jerusalem from the Babylonian exile. The Medes and Persians, who had defeated Babylon, had allowed the Jews to return to rebuild the Temple, just as God had said they would. However, the returned exiles became wrapped up in all the rebuilding affairs of the nation and had put the rebuilding of the Temple on hold. So, in comes Haggai to challenge this discouraged people. Things weren’t going well for them because they weren’t doing what they were supposed to be doing! As we read Haggai,
we can see his intense emotion coming through the words on the pages. He points out that while the returned exiles were now living in comfortable homes, the ruins of the LORD’s house were still scattered in Jerusalem. Haggai challenges them to get up and get working; to wake up from the spiritual sleep they were in and come back to God in repentance.

The Work of God; Zechariah 9-11
The work of God is very different than the work of man. When God closes something, it remains closed. When God opens something, it remains open. I believe the time in which we live has been opened to Israel the nation. It was defined in 1920, in San Remo, Italy, by a group of leaders from the Lea...
