"In the times we call ancient history, Israel had grown into a nation from a small family. It is interesting to track this growth because there seems to be a recurring plan by those against God to destroy Israel. Israel began as a family with a little more than 70 people, and during several generations in Egypt they had grown to over a million. God was developing His people to become Israel the nation. Every one of the brothers of Joseph and Joseph’s sons are listed; the plans for the formation of the kingdom of Israel was
forged by God. But as I mentioned earlier, it seems that from the beginning, the devil did not want Israel to exist. He tried to motivate the early king of Egypt, Pharaoh, to come against Israel. The Bible explains that these enemies of Israel did not have the ideas of God in mind. The Bible says, “Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph.” (EXODUS 1:8)
