Paul speaks bluntly and honestly when he writes to the Church at Corinth about their specific sin. The Bible often speaks bluntly, and as we read it carefully we will see that sin is wrong and destructive in our lives. In our reading, Paul confronts the Corinthian Church with some heavy subjects. The Christians there were suing each other, taking each other to the public courts of law. Paul labelled this a shame on them. Christians engaged in this behaviour were acting like fools, rather than Christians. 1 Corinthians 6 speaks to this issue frankly and bluntly. Paul tells believers that there is no reason to spend time in a public court seeking money when brothers can and should work it out together. Was God their authority, or the human courts? As followers of Jesus Christ, we have been forgiven and reconciled to God. We must allow the Holy Spirit to help us and give us His wisdom and grace in disputes and conflicts.
