Ancient Babylon; Revelation 17

Who or where or what is the Babylon of Revelation 17? I have met Biblical scholars who believe that there will be another physical Babylon built where ancient Babylon once stood. This is possible, but the Bible does not require it. What it says is simple and profound: Revelation 17:5 says, “And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.” Babylon here represents collective human sin. Sin is stunningly evil and has troubled us since Genesis 3. Revelation 16 and 17 tell us how God Almighty will finally end it. Revelation can be a difficult read, but I hope you are seeing how hopeful and beautiful the completion of God’s redemptive
story will be. Let’s take encouragement from Revelation 1:3 that says God will bless all who read, listen to and obey Revelation, for its time is near.

Future Foundations; Revelation 21
Reading Revelation requires a perspective shift. When we talk about our future plans here on earth, we generally think about the next 5-10 years, maybe 15-20, if we are thinking really long-term. But when God speaks about our future, He speaks incredibly long term: Eternity! We know that God oper...
