Reading Revelation requires a perspective shift. When we talk about our future plans here on earth, we generally think about the next 5-10 years, maybe 15-20, if we are thinking really long-term. But when God speaks about our future, He speaks incredibly long term: Eternity! We know that God operates outside of time, He sees all, He knows all, He understands all. So, when we read Revelation 21 today, it looks into our future, at least a thousand years into it. Yet, as Christ followers we will be there. While we may not know all that entails, we know that we will be with God. God was there at humanity’s beginning, He was there at my beginning and at your beginning, and He will always be with us. We have nothing to fear because we have given our lives to Him, and He is a faithful and good Father.
