"The prayer of Psalm 43 begins with the words “Vindicate me, oh God…”, and it sounds desperate. And, it is! We really don’t know who finalized this Psalm, but we do know the words. There are many people in the world today who empathize with the desperation of the writer. Everyone wants to be treated well. And when we are not, we want vindication. Psalm
43 is unique in that it speaks about God’s vindication, which is very different than man’s. The five verses contained in this Psalm speak to the reader about hoping and trusting in God, no matter the circumstances. The point, here, is that if God is our Saviour, who will ultimately
take care of every kind of injustice in our lives, why focus on our sorrow, disparity, or inner turmoil? He is going to wipe it all away! David’s rhetorical question sums it up well: “Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me?” (PSALM 43:5). God encourages us through His music and teaches us how not to be discouraged.

When God Rules; Psalms 65-68
