The glory of the LORD is amazing! The Hebrew word kabod means “glory” or “honour” that signifies the weighty presence, majesty, splendor, abundance, and riches of God. So when we talk about the glory of the LORD, it holds more meaning than we might think. We also see in our reading today that the glory of God’s presence appeared as a cloud; something we no longer normally associate with the glory of God. When Solomon had the Ark of God placed in the Most Holy Place, the Holy of Holies, inside the newly built Temple, the Scripture tells us that “the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God” (2 CHRONICLES 5:14). In other words, the unmistakable, weighty presence of God was there in such power that normal worship was no longer possible. The Ark of God represented the presence of God, and God made Him.
