In Acts 17, Paul visits a synagogue in Thessalonica. He had great success for several weeks as he preached the message of Jesus Christ. Many Greeks and Jews followed his teaching, but those who were not convinced by Paul’s teaching became jealous and chose to gather a mob from the marketplace and start a riot. They attacked the house of Jason, looking for Paul and Silas. When they could not find them, Jason and some of the other believers were charged with treason against Caesar. In order to let them go, the officials forced Jason and the other
believers to post bond. Paul was able to leave Thessalonica for the city of Berea. Yet, Paul loved the people in Thessalonica and later wrote a letter to the church of the Thessalonians to encourage them about the Day of the Lord soon to come. There were two letters Paul wrote to the Thessalonians that survived, both similar in their subjects. Today we learn how Paul himself was encouraged by the Thessalonian believers and, in turn, encouraged them.
