"When we become Christians, our values change. on the one hand, this is a great asset because we need to allow the righteousness of God, the creator of all that is right and good, to change our lives. on the other hand, it is a difficult transition as we wrestle with God and as people around us wrestle with the changes in our lives. There is the danger of our human culture as well, as it tempts us to forget our commitment to God for its lifestyles of sin. We read God's Word to keep us close to His paths; this is a truth that Nehemiah understood. In our reading, we discover some of the problems that were happening with God's people. The world got into their souls and made trouble. Nehemiah confronts the people, controlling his anger and moving in a calculated way. This way when Nehemiah does confront the people, they respond well.
