As we finish up our study of the Bible this year, I want to think about the world “blessing.” We hear it often, don’t we? It sounds like a really nice thing to say. When we say things like, “God bless America” or “God bless Canada” or even “God bless you” what are we really saying? The distinct blessings of God are reserved for those who obey the LORD. There are general blessings that we have because God is good to all His creation, and blessings that we have because the people before us were living for the LORD. But if we personally want to be blessed by God, we will be, if we truly seek Him, love Him, and live for Him. The book of Revelation promises a blessing to those who read it and keep the things that are written in it. Let’s do that!
Let’s never make excuses for our sins and shortcomings but instead always come to God in repentance. When we do, He is faithful and just to forgive us (1 JOHN 1:9). Our God is so good, He wants to bless us. Let’s live for Him and watch Him do just that.
