It can be tempting to believe that things will go on relatively the same forever and ever. The sun has always risen while you and I have been alive, time goes on. In our vast history, whether you believe it to be millions or thousands of years, the world has been a constant. Yet, in Luke 21, Jesus affirms once again that time will not always go on. There will be an end. Also in this passage, Jesus tells His disciples not to be deceived. This means that we need to pay attention to spiritual and religious claims, not to buy into them all just because they exist. We have an obligation to ensure that we are following the true Jesus, rather than people who claim to speak
for Him, or even to take His place. As we read these passages today, let’s remember that time is running out. We need to be ready for the coming end of days and the return of Jesus Christ.
