The Passover; Luke 22-24
Season 10, Episode 6

In today’s reading, we will see Jesus preparing to celebrate the Passover. It’s important and instructive to remember that Jesus celebrated all the Jewish feasts and festivals. In so many ways, these feasts foreshadowed Jesus, acting as types of prophecies that He would bring fulfillment to. I often wonder how He felt celebrating them each year. In Luke 22, we see Jesus instructing His disciples to prepare for Passover. He sends Peter and John ahead of the rest of the group, and we get to see God’s hand in it all. This Passover was special. Like always, it was a remembrance and celebration of the Exodus event: God rescuing the nation of Israel from the
tenth plague, from their slavery in Egypt and making them into a nation. Now, a new Exodus was about to take place. Through the sacrifice of Christ, God’s Lamb, we are rescued from our slavery to sin, and we become the family of God, His holy nation.
