The Prophecy; Matthew 19-21

Matthew 21 records Jesus’ fulfillment of the prophecy of Zechariah 9:9: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Preparing for this special entry into Jerusalem, Jesus instructs His disciples to go to a nearby village where they would find a donkey
and her colt and bring them to Him. It’s so interesting to me because Jesus would continue to fulfill Biblical prophecy until His ascension into heaven, and He will continue His role of Messiah here on earth as God’s plan continues to play out. Through the book of Matthew specifically, we are watching as Matthew ties more and more Old Testament prophecies and Scriptures to Jesus’ life. This is one way that Matthew assures his readers that Jesus truly is the Messiah. In Matthew 21, we read how people praise Christ using words from Psalm 118:26, and we also learn that Jesus will enter the Temple, and eventually cast out the money changers who have taken up residence there.

The word hypocrite is derived from a Greek phrase meaning to interpret or to play the part. It was often used to describe what an actor would do on stage to perform. In Jew...

Be Ready; Matthew24-25
One of the most important messages for us is that the LORD is coming back soon. We should make ourselves ready for the return of the LORD, living each day as if it is the day of His return. I do not believe that the Biblical end times is a set of allegories, nor do I believe that we have any just...

Paralyzed; Mark1-2
The truth emerges about a man who was paralyzed and let down through the roof by his friends, right in front of Jesus. This touching story is found in the book of Mark, the first gospel that was written and published. Mark’s Gospel was written to the Romans who were steeped in their Roman culture...
