Justification; Jeremiah 49-50

The Hebrew word for justify means to cleanse or clear us. God explains to His people that He is justifying them, that they are being cleared to do what He has commanded them to do as they move ahead. In the process, the LORD is finalizing His judgment on the ancient city of Babylon. Jeremiah, chapter 50, is fascinating! As we read these verses, we hear the judgment of God descend on the pride of the Babylonians. We hear the LORD speak to His people and explain that they have been a lost people with no true leader. God is their true leader and ruler, and to succeed they must recognize Him. It is so interesting to look at how God sees and positions
the things that happen on the earth. It is very important for us not to assume that everything happens according to human will alone, there is a much bigger picture than our perspective allows at first glance.
