"During the time of Moses, laws were given to the people of Israel. The laws of God were written down several times, in the books of Exodus and Deuteronomy. The book of Deuteronomy was written after Moses had spent 40 years with the people of Israel wandering in the desert. One of God’s commands stated: ""You shall not remove your neighbor’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in your inheritance which you will inherit in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess"" (DEUTERONOMY 19:14). The idea, here, is that God had set landmarks in place as part of His covenant. Later in time, Hosea would make the claim that Israel had moved God's landmarks, that she was worshipping other gods at the sites of Mt. Tabor and Mizpah. Whenever we fall into the
trap of worshipping other gods, evil quickly takes us in, and judgment follows. We are called to be landmarks of Christ, here on earth.
