"The law of God is fascinating. It can be categorized in three ways: (1) Cultural – that would be the case of dietary restrictions and ways of conduct; (2) Ceremonial – involving the laws of the priesthood, offerings, and sacrifices; (3) Moral – the Ten Commandments given in Exodus 20 and the Shema in Deuteronomy 6. The Ten Commandments are a
great example of societal law and the Shema, or the greatest commandment, is the best example of personal law. Where we seem to get tied up is when we do not understand what the Bible is saying and to whom it is speaking. Even when we hear about the cultural or ceremonial law there are patterns and principles in place behind it that teach us much about the LORD Jesus Christ and following Him.
