king, who ran from a demonically influenced and deeply jealous Saul. David thought it would be better for himself if he simply faded away into a small enemy city. But unbeknownst to David, he ended up retreating to a place where he could, and would, finish accomplishing what Israel had
not done for years: God’s will. David conquered Israel’s enemies and destroyed their wealth and establishment because Israel’s king could not–––Saul was working for the enemy.
