The Law of God assumes that we desire to do what is right. Is it right to sleep with someone who is not your wife or husband? Is it right to be an adulterer? An interesting element of how God speaks to us, is that He assumes we have a choice. We can decide. When we come to know Jesus Christ as our LORD, we have opportunities to change our thought patterns and how we conduct ourselves in our day to day lives. In the New
Testament, this is referred to as self-control. Self-control can be a very difficult thing to master, it comes with struggle, and teaches humility. For Christians, self-control means listening and following the ways of Christ. We choose to allow His ways to guide our decision making. If we claim to be Christians and yet do not follow the teachings of Christ in our lives through self-control, then we are distorted and need work. These teachings
are reflected early in the Bible. Leviticus brings God into the idea of self-control.

Offerings; Numbers 7-9
