"As 2 Kings progresses, we continue to see God attempting to move Israel and her kings and people back into obedience. While this is happening we see evidence that the LORD is true and kind. Psalm 117:2 says, ""For His merciful kindness is great toward us, and the truth of the LORD endures forever."" Despite Israel’s continued rejection of God’s purpose for them and continued violations of their covenant with Him, God continued to be available. The people just needed to reach out to Him. We see this principle at work when Jehoahaz the son of Jehu became king of Israel. Though he chose evil, he properly responded to the loss of power and territory that resulted. It was a very difficult time for the nation as God was showing them the results of their choices.

We know that life is good, even though it is hard. Of course, we also believe that life doesn’t end when our bodies end here on earth. Th...

The Fall of Jerusalem; 2 Kings 24-25
"The Bible records the failures of all people, even His people. We can observe a trend in the Old Testament: cities, nations, and people fall because of their willful sin against God. People are saved because of their acknowledgment of God and their repentance from sin. The city of Jerusalem had ...
