The Evil Person; 1 Corinthians 5-7

Christian fellowship is supposed to be godly friendship; it is friendship with a goal to live for the LORD, to worship Him with our lives, to build each other up in God’s way. Fellowship is supposed to go beyond the friendship that we normally experience in the world because our world encourages us to be obsessed with ourselves. In 1 Corinthians 5, Paul confronts great evil that is in
the church at Corinth, specifically, sexual immorality and spiritual pride. Paul tells them that they must not be in Christian fellowship with people who say that they are Christians but are willfully and stubbornly living in sin. Paul observed that the Corinthian Christians were proud when they should have been sorrowful over such sin among them. This reminds us that we cannot be soft on sin. Yes, everyone makes mistakes, but are they willing to be corrected by God’s Word? Or are they excusing sin, or even taking sin and calling it good? Paul told us that we must witness with our lives to unbelievers and we should have no time for Christians who say they are Christians but
have no interest in actually following Christ.

Temptations are by their nature seductive. We need to be people who recog...

The Roles; 1 Corinthians 11-12
This modern world is seriously confusing. Our culture is completely driven by what a person feels versus a real, tangible reality. We believe that reality changes based on how we feel. We need only to look at the modern ideas swirling around the transgender issue to see this. If someone believes ...

Love; 1 Corinthians 13-14
In our reading today we have come to the very famous Biblical passage about love. It has been recited at countless marriages and I’m sure seminars, sermons, and counselling sessions as well. It’s funny because we all seem to think that we know what love is. We’ve all experienced it in our lives, ...
