There is a lot of hype on today’s public platforms. People seem to believe that the more important a message is the more publicity, or hype, it will naturally have. But the truth isn’t always the most hype-able thing! And importantly, sometimes the truth can get lost in excitement, or lies can seem like truth because there are a lot of people loudly supporting it. The truth deserves sober attention, introspection, and serious consideration. It’s not all about hype! Jesus dealt with the problem of truth and lies by healing a man on the Sabbath. It’s all very interesting: There was a place that promised healing, yet healing was rare. Jesus goes there and chooses one man out of hundreds to heal, and He doesn’t even tell the man who He is! Zero hype. Jesus was interested in the man, not the fame. Today, there are a lot of parallels to this. It’s not always about the popularity of an idea or teacher, often the truth comes without a skillfully crafted brand, without a sign-up email, without a major platform.
