In the records of 2 Chronicles 19, we learn that the seventh king of Judah, whose name was Jehoshaphat, ruled well from about 873-848 BC. Among his significant accomplishments was a religious renewal and rededication to the worship of God. This was most important. He did have some troubles while ruling, and they stemmed from his desire to have peace between
his nation of Judah and the nation of Israel to the north. Even more than peace, Jehoshaphat desired an alliance. While this was a wonderful idea, and it would stop warfare between the tribes, it required a change in heart of the people that just wasn’t there. Israel had abandoned the true worship of God, while Judah had not. Jehoshaphat’s desire almost got him killed, but in
the end, God’s mercy saw him through.
