"Whatever the nation pays for with its tax money shows what is important to that nation. But we don’t always have a say in those decisions. As Christians, we are simply called to “render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's” ( L U K E 2 0 : 2 5 ) . This means that although our true and final citizenship is in heaven ( P H I L I P P I A N S 3 : 2 0 ) and that everything we own belongs to God, we should not neglect our earthly responsibilities. Even if the government confiscates all my material wealth and belongings, it cannot take away my treasures stored up in heaven, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” ( M AT T H E W 6 : 1 9 - 2 1 ) . But we are not the only ones who store treasure in heaven. We are not our own; Christ has bought us with a price ( 1 C O R I N T H I A N S 6 : 2 0 ) . We are called to put our money where our mouth is and glorify God through our earthly responsibilities as we wait to be redeemed from the earth by our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ.
