Being Proud; James 4-5

In our modern world, it is easy to become confused over pride. Despite what we’ve been told, pride is not good if it is in what you are or have done, it can be really destructive. The James of the Biblical book of James was frequently called James the Just in the early Church; he wrote to Christians who were also Israelites following the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. His teaching
on pride is very direct, and it answers a question of his time, “Where do wars and fights come from?” Everything that goes against God’s plans begins with personal pride. Like us all, James knew a thing or two about pride. Let’s remember that as the half-brother of Jesus Christ (MATTHEW 13:55), James did not initially believe that Jesus was the Christ until after He had risen
from the dead. Imagine that turn around: Humbling to say the least.
