"When a nation wins a war, victory parades cover the streets and celebrations fill the city. But the LORD who is sovereign over the whole earth, over every nation, tribe, and tongue, over every single person who breathes, over life and death itself, does not celebrate the way we do. The LORD celebrates when people stop killing each other for material gain and repent of their wicked ways. In the Kingdom of God, the only victory parade is when someone comes to Christ. The LORD Jesus Christ has already won the war. In 2 Samuel 19, we discover the sorrow that David has over the death of his son. Joab, the commander of in David's army, tells David to stop publicly mourning over the loss of his son, but to stand firm for the sake of Israel and his troops, those who stood with him. David's heart is torn. He cannot celebrate the spiritual loss of his son.
