"Modernists like to claim that we don't fight wars anymore, that everyone is inherently good. But they are wrong - - we do. Wars are often fought for subjective, greedy, and fearful human reasons. Fear and greed do not just lead to war, but they lead to starvation, too. This planet has enough of a food supply on it to feed everyone, everywhere, despite the famines we hear about around the globe. Starvation is a result of our sin-filled, selfish attitude toward others. The evil in this world is the work of human flesh. The good in this world is a result of human flesh coming into obedience under divine desire. When we face the reality of human thinking, which is greedy and fearful by nature, we end up in war - - just to survive. Yet, Moses told Israel when they readied themselves for war to not let their heart faint, Do not fear or panic or be in dread of them, for the LORD your God is He who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory‚ ( v. 3 - 4 ) ."
