Who has the right to wipe out a nation? Today, we would tend to say that no one has that right. But God did just that in the times of the Old Testament. In fact, God will do it again at the end of time. Because the LORD created humans and is the ultimate judge of right and wrong, He has the right and power to destroy them. Jesus Christ is the reason we are not destroyed today. The LORD has given us an amazing time of grace. We are all invited to come to Him, to repent and give our lives to Him, avoiding judgment for sin. This has not changed for the past 2000 years; Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for sins has stood the test of time. Jeremiah chapter 47 is a passage that seems to show God’s holy command in judgment against Philistia. The Philistines were a nation that hated the Jews and their God. God rectifies the rebellion against Him around 590 BC.
