Paul writes his third pastoral Epistle, or teaching letter, to help a man named Titus to pastor the church in Crete. Interestingly, Titus has the same name as the Roman General who destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70. But this biblical Titus was not a destroyer, he was a builder of God’s Kingdom. In the letter, Paul points out that the lives of elders and people in the church are important. We cannot just call ourselves Christians, we must live like Christians. In Titus 2, we see clearly that faith must be lived. Men, women, workers in the church, everyone who calls themselves Christian are willing to work at living in a way that brings honour to God. In Titus 3:10-11, we read, “Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition, knowing that such a person is warped and sinning being self-condemned.
