"In the world today, we live among those who are willfully confronting and condemning God. They make all kinds of claims that He is not a God at all, or that He is immoral or false. The truth that the Bible speaks is that this has all happened before, among God's people Israel. Numbers 17 explains the way God dealt with this confrontation. The twelve leaders of Israel presented their rods, their symbols of authority before God, and
so did Aaron whose leadership was being contested. The rods were placed before the LORD, and God strikingly demonstrated His decision with the budding of Aaron’s rod. Godly leadership is not manipulative or evil, it is interested in what the LORD says. Any leadership that deviates from what God has said deserves to be questioned.
