"The book of Nehemiah is the historical continuation of the book of Ezra. It records the restoration not only of Jerusalem under Nehemiah’s leadership, but also the restoration of the people. Nehemiah lived in ancient Persia and held the prestigious and trusted position of cup-bearer to the king. In the twentieth year of Artaxerxes’ reign, this king of Persia
allowed Nehemiah to go to Jerusalem to help rebuild its wall. Throughout this rebuilding, there would be remarkable occurrences. Even though Jerusalem temporarily lay in ruins, God’s purpose to establish His name there remained. If Jerusalem was ever to be an important or respectable city again, it needed to have a wall. A wall represented the ability of a people to protect themselves, and Jerusalem had been completely humbled. Now it was time to rebuild and allow repairs of the city and of the people.

Do not sorrow for the joy of the LORD is your strength!” Many pastors and teachers would quote that verse not knowing the context it was from. This verse is f...

Numbering of the Levites; Nehemiah 11-13
"As we read through the Bible, it is interesting to note that the names of the Levites operating in God’s sanctuary are often recorded. This is true when the exiles returned to Jerusalem, of the original Levites after the Exodus, and more. This tells me that God pays special attention to those wh...
