When the children of Israel entered the Promised Land, the Bible records the divisions of
the land and the names of the men who were granted to take it. Reuben, Gad, and half of
the tribe of Manasseh had already taken land that they had requested on the east side of
the Jordan. The nine and a half remaining tribes were given the land on the west side of the
Jordan, by Joshua and Eleazar the priest. In addition to Joshua and Eleazar, one man from
each tribe would help them divide the land appropriately between all the families. This land
was promised to Abraham over 500 years earlier. The LORD makes all His words come to
pass. He is never late on His promises, and His promises do not change once they are made.
Genesis 3:15 states one of the most important promises of God that the seed of woman will
defeat the power of satan: “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between
your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”
