Many are afraid of the future. Less people are excited about the future. The evil in our hearts always finds a way to snatch that hope within us and take advantage of our fears. The prophet Isaiah wrote about a similar problem nearly three thousand years ago. He told the people of Judah to stop placing their hope and trust in other nations, as if they could save them. God says in Isaiah 31 that it will be the LORD alone who will deliver them, no matter how strong those people seem to be. This is a critically important lesson, even to us today, in this critically important time. It is the LORD alone who can save our countries, not mere men. Our societies are poisoned with our sin, and we need to repent. Repentance means completely turning your heart and mind in the opposite direction you are going––if sin is leading you this way, you go that way. The only way we can truly change direction is through Jesus Christ. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (JOHN 14:6).
