Great wealth, power, and advantage comes to certain cities. This is something that is
observable through history. But while these markers of human achievement might seem
immovable, time tells a different story. In Ezekiel’s time, the city of Tyre had long been enjoying wide influence and great wealth through her vast maritime trade. Her power and history made Tyre seem indestructible. Yet through Ezekiel, God speaks to the city and its people, He tells them that their pride will cause them to fall. Their end was coming. Sin may inflate us for a time, but it cannot last. Sin is ultimately destructive. Sin’s promises are empty, they are lies to get us to indulge. We may be talented and creative people, industrious, wise, but if we do not have victory over our sin we are destined for destruction. Our greatness is limited by our sin, whether we choose to see it or not. Amazingly for us, God has given us a way out of our destructions through the work and power of Jesus Christ.

The End Days; Ezekiel 38-41
