Comparison; Proverbs 9-11

We all know how to make comparisons. We often compare things like right and wrong, good and bad, ugly and wholesome. However, a major problem occurs when we begin to tear down the standards by which we judge things. Changing our standards results in a diminishing of the good, the right, the wholesome. To me, the Bible seems to proclaim the obvious truth about what is right and wrong, it should be our standard! But in our fallen world there seems to be an ever-increasing rejection of God’s standard. Even a slight distortion of what is good or evil changes us, our culture, our belief system. Even a slight change can eventually lead to our downfall. This is why it is so important to have a relationship with God; He will help us and teach us and not let us fall! For our part, we need to compare what the Bible says with what we think and feel, and we need to wrestle with the differences, but come out on the side of obedience to God.

Contentment; Proverbs 15-17
It is easy to want more. Especially in these times of economic difficulty, it is tempting to believe that if we had even a little bit more, we would be content. Tricked; Proverbs 21-24
