Many people prefer to listen to the Law of God rather than hearing the Spirit of God behind the law. It seems easier to follow a set of laws or rules; we can measure our accomplishments and get a sense of self-value this way. However, when we are faced with the reality of Who Jesus Christ is, when we come into His presence and realize that He is fully God, it changes us, humbles us. We must give our lives to Him and change the way we live. A good question for us to ask ourselves often is: Why? Why are we serving the LORD? This question is powerful when we are honest with our answers. We serve the LORD because we love Him. Our love and gratitude toward God must be our only reason. If we are serving to gain something from our service, we are in the wrong. We must always listen
to the Spirit of God, rather than follow a set of rules only.
