There are several ways to grow in wisdom, and there are even different kinds of wisdom. However, the best way to get wisdom in our lives is to ask God, to read His Word, and to begin applying it to our lives. God is the best teacher! Not only does He know all things, but He knows how to speak to each of us in a way that we can understand. There are different words used in the Bible for wisdom. In the Old Testament we see the Hebrew word “hakma” which relates wisdom to skill and ability in war. In the New Testament, the Greek word “sophia” conveys broad intelligence in diverse matters. Clearly, wisdom is a great thing to have. The book of Proverbs
tells us that if we pay attention to God’s Word, thinking on it and applying its instruction, then wisdom will grow in our lives.
