Just because we are comfortable does not mean we are right. Because we are human, our various cultures are cultures of sin. Way too often, we justify our cultural sin because it is comfortable to us. This is a trap! It’s a trick. As we read Proverbs we’ll see statements about cultures of sin, and it reminds us to keep our minds clear and free of its troubles. Proverbs 23:1-8 speaks clearly about the temptations of money and its seduction, for example. The desire for money easily ensnares us. We need to carefully pay attention to our attitudes, actions, hopes, and desires and keep them Christ-centered. Many of my own embarrassing life mistakes could have been avoided if I had only been reflecting carefully on the position of my heart, and the
words and actions of others. Are we honouring God with our words and our actions? Let’s be careful to follow the LORD with all of ourselves, as Proverbs 23 explains.
