Temptation is a reality that we should never ignore. Even in times of victory we may be faced with opportunities to compromise on our godly convictions. Temptation will happen and it needs to be met with the strength that comes from a life surrendered to Christ. Jesus Himself faced temptations and was able to overcome them with a right understanding of God and His Word. It’s important to remember that Jesus didn’t come into our world just to give us a better life, He came to free us from the damnation of sin. So, let’s live for Him and not for temporary gratification or for the ways of this fallen world. Sadly, the latter is what we see King Solomon doing. Though he was given extraordinary wisdom from God, Solomon still chose sin. He chose to love, to prioritize, his unlawful wives over God, and this led to more and more compromise, quickly leading into full blown idolatry and apostacy in Israel.
