Israel was God’s kingdom, and David became Israel’s king because God established him. And because of this fact, David was unstoppable. In 1 Chronicles 20, we read about wars that broke out in rebellion against David’s control of the land of Israel. They were all defeated. The enemy knew that the only way to conquer and defeat David and his mighty men was from the inside. But David threw each rebellion down one after another. He also had great success against
the Ammonites, Philistines, and several other nations who wanted Israel annihilated. Not just nations, but individuals, too. Goliath’s brothers, who were all like him in height and stature, were all soundly defeated. Anyone who came against God were conquered completely! David had gathered God’s men to conquer all outside enemies of Israel. When God is for us, who can be against us? (ROMANS 8:31) The only problem now was the internal conflict’s ripple effect through time. But that was in God’s hands, not David’s.
