One of the amazing things to read in the book of Ephesians is the encouragement of Paul the apostle to his audience. He reminds the Ephesians that they have been bought and paid for by Jesus Christ. They belong to the Creator of the Universe, and Ephesians 4 goes on to tell us that God has included us in His plans! It’s also interesting to me that Paul labels himself a prisoner of the LORD, in Ephesians 4:1. There were many times Paul found himself incarcerated for the gospel, but it’s especially interesting because of his backstory. Before Paul was saved by Christ, he persecuted Christians. He would imprison people of The Way because he thought that was a godly thing to do. Now, Paul found himself on the opposite end of the spectrum. Paul encourages the Ephesians that he personally knows the cost of
following Jesus Christ, and that it is worth it. There is always a cost to our lives, the way we choose to live has consequences.
