"Two great Biblical debates swirl around what the Bible means when it describes the beginning of time and the end of time. To clarify, by the end of time I mean the apocalyptic literature of the Bible that describes the return of Christ, His reign, God’s judgment, and the New Heavens and New Earth. By the beginning of time, I mean the creation account of Genesis. Matthew 24 is only one of the Scriptures that we use to inform our thinking about the coming of God. They are the words of Jesus Christ
predicting the destruction of the temple. This must have stunned His disciples as they had come to Him to show Him the huge and impressive buildings of the temple. They were delighted to show Jesus, believing that He would soon rule from there. But Jesus confronts them with the truth of Messiah's first mission, dealing with the sin of man.
